VPK Program

In VPK we focus on literacy, math, science, and getting students ready for the Kindergarten classroom. Curious, creative and courageous is our motto for our VPK classes.

VPK at BCA

BCA offers 2 VPK classes. Both have 18 students with a lead instructor and an assistant in each class. We offer 540 hours of instructional learning and use the Broward County School schedule to dictate our start and end date.

Our skilled teachers hold either a bachelors in Early Childhood Education, or related fields, with a Staff Credential required by the state of Florida. We also have monthly special events that give parents an opportunity to watch their children grow in their confidence and love for song, music, and culture. This is a great way to meet other families, become more involved with the school, and enjoy some yummy meals together. At the end of the school year BCA holds a special graduation ceremony for all of our VPK graduates. This is our last hoo-rah as we bid farewell to our students.

Curriculum

At BCA we use the Creative Curriculum to engage students in learning. The Creative Curriculum uses weekly themes to encourage creativity and offers a more hand on approach to learning. One day they’re artist learning to paint with different tools and textures and the following day they’re scientist experimenting cause and effect.

Our classrooms are divided into five learning areas we call centers: Language/Literacy, Dramatic Play, Science, Block Area and Manipulative Area. We also have big group activities we call “circle time” where students can participate with each other and learn important social emotional skills.

BCA has excellent school readiness scores with about 80% of our students scoring well in Kindergarten assessments.

Benefits of a VPK Program

VPK is FREE for all children who obtain a voucher in the state of Florida and are 4 year of age on or before September 1! Free means free- no registration fee. VPK instructional hours at BCA are from 8:30 – 11:30 AM and include 30 minutes of outdoor play.

VPK gives children a jump start by preparing them for school and enhancing their pre-reading, pre-math, language and social skills. Children enrolled in BCA for VPK will have quarterly assessments required by the State of Florida so that families and teachers know exactly what skills are being learned and what skills need reenforcing.

Class size for VPK will never exceed 20 students and will always have two teachers. BCA has excellent school readiness scores with about 80% of our students scoring well in Kindergarten assessments.

Communication & Safety

BCA believes in a strong parent teacher communication and relationship for the success of each student. Thats why we use a communication app called HiMamma that allows for real time updates, pictures, developmental entries, and announcements from the school.
